
Shin Tanaka is a paper toy creator. When he started creating paper models and templates for all his favorite sneakers he couldn’t afford when he was a student - people were simply stunned about his detailed life-size objects. Shin’s sneakers were then displayed in a showcase of the NIKE design library and by now he has collaborated with over 80 brands (Adidas, Ark United, etc.) and many different artists. Branded was born out of the frustration of sitting in a cubicle all day dishing out corporate advertising for shit products. A creative outlet was needed beyond the business desk, so he took it to the streets. There, he realized what he was doing was similar to grass roots marketing, only now it was labeled "Street art." Though the passion and product of the street artist is a long way from the average corporation, Branded's moniker was chosen as reminder of the constant tension that can arise if the former and ladder become one and the same....
